1940s Brandy Toddy (hot)

2 oz California brandy
1 lump sugar
slice lemon
boiling water
nutmeg

Put lump of sugar into a hot whiskey glass and fill two-thirds with boiling water. Add brandy. Stir and decorate with slice of lemon. Grate nutmeg on top.
