Kandahar Marmalade

1 oz gin
1 oz TripleSec
2 oz lemon sour mix
1 tsp English marmalade

Shake the gin, triple sec and sours with some ice. Strain out the ice and put back in the shaker with the marmalade (which should be of the chunky kind.) Shake again and serve in a glazed Martini glass. It should be quite thick, with bits in it.

Submitted by Michael Sackur, London England
The aptly-named Tachi bar in Murren (Switzerland) is where many a member of the legendary Kandahar Ski Club can be found after a hard day's downhill. One session saw members bemoaning the fact that there was no Kandahar cocktail- so the even more legendary Scottish barman, one Alan Ramsay, asked what special ingredient it should have. The club being a rather British type of club, there were jocular cries of "Marmalade! Let's see you make a drink with that!" And the rest is history.
