Hot Spiced Syrup

1 cup sugar
4 cups water
spiral peel of lemon
18 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

Dissolve sugar in water in large saucepan. Add slices of lemon peel, cloves and cinnamon. Boil 15 minutes; then strain out peel and spices. Store in air tight container and keep refrigerated, no more than two weeks.

Excellent with bourbon, rum, red or white wine, champagne, vodka and whiskey.
