1940s Tom And Jerry

1 1/2 oz rum
1 tbsp Tom And Jerry batter
hot milk
1/2 oz California brandy
nutmeg

In a Tom and Jerry mug dissolve batter in three tablespoons hot milk. Add rum then fill mug with hot milk within 1/4 inch of top of mug and stir gently. Then top with brandy and grate a little nutmeg on top.

The secret of a Tom and Jerry is to have a stiff batter and a warm mug.

From the bookOld Mr. Boston DeLuxe Official Bartender's Guide, compiled and edited by Leo Cotton (Ben Burke, Inc., 1941).
