Bombay Sapphire This month we're pleased to report that an old favorite still had what it took to fend off some upstarts (and some not-so-upstarts) to capture our tasters' fancy. Venerable Bombay Sapphire got the nod from our panel of judges in Cocktail.com's much-anticipated Gin tasting event. Our experts liked Sapphire's pleasant, light flavor and smooth finish. Coming in second was Citadelle Gin - another French upset in the tradition of April's Vodka revolution - which was lauded for its robust, but not overpowering flavor and surprisingly easy finish. We were less impressed by some of the other established brands. Beefeater didn't perform as some of us expected to. Unlike other instances in which we've essentially recommended ignoring a brand's price, we're inclined to say the more you pay, the better the Gin. Pains us to admit that, but then again, we don't want any of you going blind after the first G&T. Here are this month's results:
The editors of Cocktail.com would like to thank the manufacturers of the aforementioned gins for allowing us to evaluate their products. * We are aware, of course, that Dirty Olive is an infused beverage. But it's our Web site. |
